Midway Across Missouri

My Ghost Notes series of images are still housed with my long time partner the Sager Braudis Gallery in Columbia, MO. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate place than right in the middle of the state to debut some of the new images in the series, ones that were added to the collection as I paddled my kayak across Missouri.  Continue reading »

Ain’t Technology Grand?!

As a full-time working artist for more than two decades, I still get a thrill when “firsts” come along. I just had one happen this past Friday, and it was awesome!

I’ve been emailing back and forth with a lovely couple who live out of town, Angela and Todd, and they were wanting a new piece of artwork. It just so happened that Todd and his son were going to be in KC for a hockey tournament and would be able to drop by the studio. What I didn’t know was that he was going to call Angela on FaceTime, and they were going to tour the studio together! What fun!! Continue reading »

Midwest Living: Let’s Talk Art

Oh my goodness, we have been so busy in the studio this summer that I almost forgot to tell you…MY WORK IS FEATURED IN A LARGE MAGAZINE – Midwest Living May/June edition!

Midewest Living, May/June 2017

My favorite quote from the article:

“Fall in love The art in your home should do more than decorate. It should resonate, reflecting your personality, experiences and values. So don’t second-guess a piece that brings you joy. If the color or style doesn’t seem to fit with your decor, just know there’s always a way to make it work.”

You can read the rest for yourself here: Midwest Living, May/June 2017, Let’s Talk Art, page 74-81

A Moment’s Pause

“Life was not intended to be simply a round of work, no matter how interesting and important that work may be. A moment’s pause to watch the glory of a sunrise or a sunset is soul-satisfying, while a bird’s song will set the steps to music all day long.” Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Farm Journalist

The Artist’s Eyes

“To any artist, worthy of the name, all in nature is beautiful, because his eyes, fearlessly accepting all exterior truth, read there, as in an open book, all the inner truth.” —  Auguste Rodin

How it’s Remembered

“Perhaps everything is not how it is, but how it’s remembered.” — Denis Norden

The Real Things Haven’t Changed

“The real things haven’t changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”  ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Highest Appreciation

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. — John F. Kennedy
