Like a Rock Star

Thanks for the love, Des Moines!

Last week I participated the Des Moines Arts Festival for my 19th time, and oh what fun I had – it was perhaps the closest this studio artist might ever feel to a rock star! My week included a media tour, leading a workshop, being the featured artist with my artwork on both posters and t-shirts for the festival, and if all that wasn’t enough I even won an award! Thanks for the love, Des Moines – the feeling is definitely mutual!

Brookside Art Annual – Same Spot, New Artwork!

The Brookside Art Annual May 4th-6th will be the first time to show my latest collection of artwork – Ghost Notes –  in Kansas City, and I couldn’t be more excited about sharing it in my hometown! It’s a different marriage of imagery, materials, and printing technique, but still so clearly my quiet contemplative voice. So if you’re walking down the big tent and see me in my usual location (#33) but don’t recognize the work, you’re in the right spot, stop in, say hi and check it out!

Note – If you were hoping to see the Mile Markers here in KC, don’t worry, we have a lot of beautiful new pieces for you to choose from and you have options for viewing them in person – either contact me to make an appointment to come by the studio, or see me this fall at the Plaza Art Fair.

Itchy Feet – Time to get Moving!

The birds are chirping, the trees are leafing out, it’s snowing (still?again?), and my feet are itching. It must be spring!

Now don’t get me wrong, my native Texan blood has come to love the winter, or more specifically, the chance that the cold weather brings to tuck into the studio and make artwork. That said, I am beyond Continue reading »

Ain’t Technology Grand?!

As a full-time working artist for more than two decades, I still get a thrill when “firsts” come along. I just had one happen this past Friday, and it was awesome!

I’ve been emailing back and forth with a lovely couple who live out of town, Angela and Todd, and they were wanting a new piece of artwork. It just so happened that Todd and his son were going to be in KC for a hockey tournament and would be able to drop by the studio. What I didn’t know was that he was going to call Angela on FaceTime, and they were going to tour the studio together! What fun!! Continue reading »

A.S.K. Launch!

Almost exactly a year ago, I was contacted by Salina Arts & Humanities and they asked me to help them help their creative community. After spending time meeting with local artists of all disciplines and skill levels, facilitating round-table discussions with artists and stake-holders to identify what resources and talent were within the community, and many discussions with the Salina Arts and Humaniites staff, I proposed several paths forward. 2018 – Let’s do this!

This year just started, and it’s already looking good – the studio is hopping! I’ve got some shows on the calendar in pen and a few more waiting to be inked in (I’m looking at you, St Louis and Oregon). So here’s my schedule as of today: Continue reading »

Holiday Gift For You

Time flies when you are having fun, and oh my, are we having fun —  so, yes, I’m looking at you Chanukah and Christmas!

The days are getting shorter, the holidays are upon us, and this jam-packed year full of adventures and growth is almost over. But what an incredible journey this year has been, and I am grateful that you have chosen to come along with us! It is you that makes it possible, and I’m so thankful.

To show my appreciation, and as a holiday gift to you, I will provide free shipping on all existing work. I’ve just updated the website  to reflect the Mile Markers I have on hand but let me know if there is something else you would like to add to your collection. (Or the collection of someone you love!)

Happy Holidays!
