Almost exactly a year ago, I was contacted by Salina Arts & Humanities and they asked me to help them help their creative community. After spending time meeting with local artists of all disciplines and skill levels, facilitating round-table discussions with artists and stake-holders to identify what resources and talent were within the community, and many discussions with the Salina Arts and Humaniites staff, I proposed several paths forward. In the end they contracted with me to create and deliver a workshop series tailored to their community, utilizing my lengthy experience in artist’s professional development and the area’s local talent. After a year of work and many drives back and forth through my beloved Kansas Flint Hills, I am excited to launch my new program, A.S.K. | Artists. Sharing. Knowledge.!

The rubber hits the road this Saturday, February 10 as I conduct a full day workshop for 32 artists of all disciplines entitled An Artist’s Roadmap: Where Do You Want to Go? and Plotting a Path to Get There, which focuses on strategic planning and goal setting using a variety of modalities to discover the participants wants and needs, and how to achieve their dreams. Throughout 2018 it will be followed by three more full day workshops: Telling Your Story: Communicating About Your Artwork, Amplify: Getting the Word Out and Building Your Audience and The Balance Sheet: Balancing Passion and Profit.  Additionally, between these deep diving workshops there will be recommended reading, weekly momentum building activities, and shorter evening programming to expand on the topics and capitalize on the expertise within the community. I bet you’ve never been so jealous of those living in North Central Kansas!
