“The Hand Magazine is dedicated to being the world’s premier forum for innovative and experimental uses of reproduction-based media. We are interested in how artists include their own hand in the art object while utilizing mechanical or reproduction-based techniques.”
The Hand Magazine was founded in 2013 by Kansas City based photographer and educator Adam Finkelston who I am happy to know and be inspired by on a regular basis. He and his business partner, printmaker James Meara, began the publication to create a forum for artists working in photography and printmaking allowing artists access to a larger audience. Thank you Adam and James!

I’ve just added two of my favorite shows to my 2016 schedule and I am getting itchy feet to get the travel season under way.

I am continuing to hear from shows, so my year’s travel schedule is not fully completed. If you want to make sure that you’re invited to any shows I am doing in your area, or know someone that should receive an invitation, be sure to get on my email list and you won’t miss a thing!

Kyle and I leave tomorrow for our beloved town of Guanajuato, Mexico where we will get to experience, for our first time, the world renowned music and art festival, Cervantino. To say we are excited would be a bit of an understatement. More to come about this adventure I’m sure…
As I was laying in a comfy bed this morning, I was struck with a fun realization. Namely, that as my studio practice and career have evolved since I began traveling to art festivals, so have our accommodations on the road when we’ve had time for camping between shows! Here’s some pictorial proof of our progression:

Kyle and I are ridiculously lucky that most of the time we are on this crazy artistic adventure side by side; in the art studio, in the van, at his shows, at my shows, hearing his rehearsals through the kitchen door.
Almost immediately after our show in Sun Valley, Idaho Kyle flew, as if by slingshot, across the country to Nashville to record with our good friends Victor and Penny for their upcoming album. I stayed behind in the Wood River Valley for a few days of camping, biking and READING. While solo camping has given me ample time for reading (2 books in 4 days!) and I am super proud of the music they are recording, I am really ready for his return so we can continue this adventure together…Montana here we come!

Last fall I, along with 11 other artists, was honored by a commission from the HNC Living Foundation to make a special piece of artwork to raise awareness and bring financial support for survivors of head and neck cancer. I was charged with using a thermoplastic mask, one that had been molded to a cancer patient’s face as a tool for focusing radiation treatment. The mask is embued with so much meaning for the patient – for some a symbol of torture as they are immobilized on the table, for others a symbol of their own strength and healing. But for me, after living with the mask in my studio for the winter, Continue reading »
“I am going to notice the lights of the earth, the sun and the moon and the stars, the lights of our candles as we march, the lights with which spring teases us, the light that is already present.” — Anne Lamott
